本作は前作『MONSTERS IN TOWN』同様、1981年に制作されていた。レコーディングは東京とニューヨークで行われ、ミックス・ダウンは全曲ニューヨークで兄の吉田保が担当している。ニューヨークでのレコーディングでは当時、すでにメンバーが変わっていたブレッカー・ブラザーズのホーン・セクションをオリジナル・メンバーに戻してセッションが行われた。
